The Mini Hippo is a newer designer breed developed to combine the sweet, affectionate nature of the Cocker Spaniel with the Shar-Pei’s distinctive look and loyal temperament. Cocker Spaniels have long been cherished as gentle and joyful companions, while Shar-Peis are known for their protective personalities and iconic wrinkles. Breeders saw the opportunity to create a loving family dog with a unique appearance and a calm, friendly character. Over time, the Mini Hippo has gained popularity for its adorable face and well-balanced temperament.
