Meet Doxiepoo

The Doxiepoo is an adorable and lively designer breed created by mixing the Dachshund with the Poodle. Known for their expressive eyes, playful personalities, and charmingly unpredictable appearance, Doxiepoos make loving companions for singles, seniors, and families.

About Doxiepoo

No two Doxiepoos look the same—this mix has some of the most varied coat types and appearances of all doodle breeds!

History

The Doxiepoo is a modern designer dog created to blend the Dachshund’s bold personality with the Poodle’s intelligence and low-shedding coat. While the crossbreed is newer, both parent breeds have long, notable histories. Dachshunds originated in Germany as talented badger-hunting dogs known for their determination and courage. Poodles, famous for their intelligence and hypoallergenic coat, have long served as working dogs and beloved companions. The combination gives the Doxiepoo a spirited personality, unique look, and affectionate nature.

Personality

Doxiepoos are known for being clever, affectionate, and full of character. They often inherit the Dachshund’s confidence along with the Poodle’s playful, intelligent nature. These dogs love interacting with their families and enjoy being the center of attention. Their temperament is often described as lively, curious, loving, and at times a bit mischievous. With proper socialization, they get along well with children and other pets.

Appearance

Because the Dachshund and Poodle are very different in body type, the Doxiepoo can vary widely in appearance. Some have the long body of a Dachshund, while others resemble a smaller Poodle. Coats may be curly, wavy, or slightly wiry and come in various colors including cream, chocolate, black, red, gray, or mixed patterns. Regular brushing helps prevent matting and keeps their coat clean and healthy.

Care

Feeding your Doxiepoo quality dog food appropriate for their size and age is important for healthy growth and energy. Puppies should be fed two to three small meals per day, while adults usually thrive on two balanced meals. Doxiepoos have moderate exercise needs—daily walks and active playtime are ideal. Grooming depends on coat type but generally includes brushing several times a week, routine nail trimming, ear cleaning, and regular dental care. Mental stimulation through training or puzzle toys helps keep this intelligent breed engaged.

Life Expectancy

Doxiepoos typically stand 8 to 15 inches tall and weigh 10 to 30 pounds, depending on their genetics.
Their average life expectancy ranges from 12 to 15 years.

Yes. They are affectionate, playful, and enjoy spending time with their families.

They are generally low-shedding thanks to their Poodle heritage, though individual dogs may vary.

They are intelligent and eager to learn, but may show some Dachshund-like stubbornness. Positive training works best.

Moderate daily activity such as walks, fetch, or interactive play keeps them happy and healthy.
